Grab mishaps

I had a bit of a lazy Sunday today. My first idea was to go to a turtle pond with street food nearby, so I ordered a bike.

The driver arrived and picked me up, and he spoke English pretty well! He didn’t have his passenger helmet out, so I asked him and he got it out of the seat (this should’ve been a red flag)

I showed him my booking and he said it was him, but it wasn’t. Only after riding about 500m, my real driver started calling me, and I got off his bike.

I cancelled the other ride and ordered a new one to my current location, but this new driver took a handful of wrong turns and turned a 2 minute ETA into 3 then 7.

I cancelled and decided to explore the southern side of district 1.

Midday dining

I got a street food bahn mi and some kind of egg pastry, and walked for awhile just looking at shops. I then turned around and went to the gym

After the gym, I wanted a snack again, so I went to check out the underground market near my hotel.

There wasn’t any food that interested me, so I walked to an outdoor Highland Coffee location with a nice view of the street, and enjoyed a viet coffee and a donut

I went back to the hotel, rested for a bit, and decided to get a massage. I picked a place a few meters from my hotel, and it was okay.

It felt kind of weird when the masseuse was tapping my legs and massaging my shoulders, but otherwise an alright experience for ~$17 including tip.

Chinatown

For the evening, I decided to go to district 5, which has Saigon’s Chinatown. It started pouring, so I went into a nearby pho restaurant and had pork dumpling pho there.

Forgot to take a photo of my dinner :(

I revisited D1 again before going to bed to just see the crowd level there and have a soda.
