Breakfast

Today is my last day in Vietnam, so I decided to visit a 5-star Vietnamese comfort restaurant. I ordered cơm tấm - the same dish I ordered for breakfast yesterday.

Although the presentation was nicer than its street food equivalent, it was 5 times the cost and only a bit juicier. I still enjoyed it, but absolutely love street food!

Finances

For this leg of the trip, I spent a total of $972.71. I probably could’ve gotten away with cheaper, but things like my phone repair raised it a bit. Still good though, considering that I had a $1,000 budget!

Over the 12 days I’ve been in Vietnam, my spending averaged $81.06 per day. My lowest spend was on 07-13, and my highest spend was on 07-14 when I went on a tour of the tunnels, shot a gun, and purchased laquerware from the market.

Categories:

  • Hotels: self-explanatory
  • Food-grocery: Any food I bought at a grocery store or convenience store as a snack or to eat in my hotel
  • Food-dining: Any larger meal and beverages I bought with meals
  • Souvenirs: Purchases primarily as gifts or mementos to take home - mainly from Ben Thanh market
  • Shopping: Any purchases of utilities - like my phone repair, chargers, and contact solution
  • Transit: Any intra-city transit - main Grab cars and motorbikes, and occasionally the bus or metro
  • Activities: Any tour or attraction ticket costs

Notes & methodology

  • Flights aren’t reflected in any of these numbers
  • Hotels and the phone repair are capitalized over the trip - they contribute to the total and average without making any one day an outlier
